Press Release: Second Season BBM Sticker Contest, A Chance to Show Your Potential

Jakarta, 4 December 2015 - The first BBM Sticker Contest held early this year has produced many incredible creativity and shows that Indonesia has so many undiscovered talent in design. Over 7000 submissions were received and more than 19,000 registered users participated during the contest period.

“Chibi Mega & Mendung” was the sticker design pack who win the first season contest. Designed by Aditya Wahyu Budiawan, the design presents vibrant colours, expressive emotions and a distinctive Indonesian feel.

“The first BBM Sticker Contest was the first time I enter this kind of competition where I was encuraged to be more creative and think of a way to make the sticker to be impressive, memorable and still fun to be used in BBM to chat, “ said Aditiya.

His motivation to join the first online sticker contest is to increase his “savings for the future” in terms of enriching his portfolio so he can continue to a higher education in University by gaining knowledge, support and experience.

Aditiya said “My inspiration in designing “Chibi Mega & Mendung” comes from searching a design that is funny and can be used universally by any age, from youngsters to adults. “Megamendung” batik was applicated to create a real Indonesian feel in that particular sticker set.” “I would use subtle colour that can be accepted by BBM user in any age. The lines was also made to be real enough, with various, expressive facial expressions. It has to be in harmony with every detail. In my experience, you can do it in 5 hours time,” commenting on his design process.

In the process of the contest he admit that there are a lot of hardships. Trying to get people to vote for his design proved to presents quite a challenge for Adit. He admitted that, “There’s a lot of critics, especially when I’m promoting it on social media, forums and groups. But I did not give up! Luckily I get a lot of support from my teacher, alumni, school friends, and my family. Their appreciation really lift up my spirit. In the end my effort pays off well.”

“I can’t believe it when i win the competition, I was so speechless and then I scream as loud as I can when I realized what was happening.”

Including Aditiya, there are also four sticker designers who made it to the finals and have their stickers published in BBM Shop.

The first time it was published on BBM Shop it was an incredible feeling for all the finalists because BBM users all over Indonesia were using their designs in every day chat.

“I feel really happy and proud since my work can be enjoyed and used by others, and the best part is seeing other people are happy using my sticker designs,” said Kun Widy, one of the finalists from the first season.

Thos who made it to the finals send some tips for making the design. “Stay close to Indonesian culture , and everyday gesture or conversation, design it with all your heart,” said Ryan Alfiansyah, “Hippie Loves” sticker pack designer. “Don’t be too complicated, use interesting color, and be really expressive“ comented Rosikhul Ilmi who reach the finals with its “Kakek Tampan” Sticker.

The second season of the BBM Sticker Contest will be awarding the winner with an iPhone 6 and for the finalists they will receive Samsung Galaxy A5 and get a chance for their design to be featured in BBM Shop.

To win, all the participant should oftenly share their sticker design vote page to various social media and don’t forget to ask support from their friends, colleagues and family.
